Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/6/2018
Terrific pre-war collectibles here came with "The Triumph", a boy's magazine published in Great Britain, with three postcards reportedly included, along with a paper folder to store the cards, with the January 18, 1936 issue and then one card per issue for the following seven weeks. An "18.1.36" date is indeed present on the folder which is in G condition with multiple creases, although limited to the spine region. Some pre-war hockey greats are in the lineup, with the crease-free (EX) postcard of Harvey "Busher" Jackson leading condition-wise. A small subtle light crease affects similarly-looking cards of Paul Thompson and Baldy Northcott, with Sylvio Mantha and Herbie Lewis examples VG+ with light creasing. More obvious creasing, but still on the lighter side, sends the likes of Eddie Shore, Ching Johnson, Roy Worters and Nick Metz to the VG world, while low grade is Lionel Conacher due to a pinhole at the top and paper loss on the upper back. The cards have postcard backs with brief bios, measure 3-1/2" by 5-1/2" and feature marvelous images.
