Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2018

An absolute must for an important rookie card collection is that picturing Bobby Hull, the young man from Ontario who would go on to establish himself as the greatest left winger in hockey history in the minds of most longtime hockey observers. Feared by goalies and adored by his fans, Hull's NHL numbers would be even loftier and more impressive had he not been lured to the WHA in 1972. Describing the teenager as "blond husky of brilliant promise", card #66 from Topps' 1958-59 issue is notorious for poor centering, with this example however showing more of a right border than is often seen and rather pleasing in that respect. We spot a small crease near the upper left corner, as well as a horizontal surface scratch in the lower left region, from the border to the Black Hawks' Indian head logo. Corner/edge wear is also to note but no rubber band indentations or warping caused by the latter is observed. We see it as an attractive VG or VG+ specimen.
