Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/6/2018
The genesis of what would become the NHL, the National Hockey Association was founded in 1909 and despite only seeing 8 seasons, the league would serve as the benefactor to the NHL, with the NHA’s rules, constitution and trophies all adopted by the new league in 1917. Packed with immense talent including legendary HOFers Georges Vezina, Sprague Cleghorn, Newsy Lalonde, Joe Malone and many others, the NHA in 1910-11 consisted of the Millionaires, Senators, Bulldogs, Wanderers and Canadiens, with Ottawa crowned as season champions. From only the NHA’s second season, we have an especially rare schedule that was issued by Hurd & Co Sporting Goods. At 2 ¾” x 4 ½” and on card stock, the Dec 31st to March 10th schedule is listed, along with 'interprovincial' games over the obverse.
Heavy creasing, surface wear and toning are all present along with a pinhole, with a few games results handwritten in pencil. Despite the condition issues, the scarce pocket schedule remains complete, and would fit nicely into any antique or NHA hockey collection.
