Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/6/2018
Great names and great glasses abound in this collection of nine (9) 1960-61 York Peanut Butter hockey premium glasses. There are eight members of the Hockey Hall of Fame represented here, including all five Montreal Canadiens glasses, with Harvey, Moore, Geoffrion, Beliveau and Henri Richard. The four Toronto Maple Leafs glasses include HOFers Armstrong, Pulford and Stanley, as well as Harris. The glasses stand 4 1/2" tall and measure 2 5/8” in diameter across the lip. Great colors on these wonderfully-preserved keepsakes that span the brief gap between the end of the Habs’ record run of five straight Stanley Cups and the dawn of the Leafs’ run of three Cups in a row.
Each glass features a portrait image below the player’s name, with the team name above an image of the player in action in full uniform and a white image of a penalty and a referee signaling the infraction. The Canadiens glasses display the name of the penalty in English and French:
Doug Harvey “tripping, faire trebucher”
Dickie Moore “elbowing, jouer du coude”
“Boom Boom” Geoffrion “interference, interference”
Jean Beliveau “hooking, accrocher”
Henri Richard “holding, retenir”
George Armstrong “charging”
Bob Pulford “slashing”
Allan Stanley “high-sticking”
Billy Harris “slow whistle”
