Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2018

An absolutely tantalizing piece for non-sport card and display box enthusiasts is the downright rare O-Pee-Chee Davy Crockett display box that highlights this intriguing all-Canadian trio. “Made in London, Ontario by O-Pee-Chee Company Ltd. Under license with Topps Chewing Gum Inc., Brooklyn, N.Y.” appears above Fess Parker’s image on the box top, while to the right of Davy is where “Hockey Cards” was written and then partially erased. What a thrill you’ll have holding and twirling the well-preserved box, admiring each panel, with the ends particularly riveting. Creasing in the upper box top is to report, but the bright vivid colors, while contemplating the rarity, are captivating. Shrink-wrapped, with a BBCE identifying label and a company hologram on the bottom of the box, the beautiful brick is joined by an empty box that originally held an Official Davy Crockett Frontier Suit, as well as a (French) Davy Crockett Stamp Album. Please see our website for more details on this terrific ensemble.
The 36-count empty display box measures 4” by 8-1/2” by 2-1/4”, while the Frontier Suit box is 10’ by 11-3/4” by 2”, with the latter informing that Toronto’s Continental Pant MFG. Company was the maker. Creasing and peripheral staining are to mention, with all 50 stamps affixed in their appropriate places in the 32-page album that hails Davy as “Invincible”. Pages have become detached from the cardboard covers, with warping to the pages also to note. Oh well, a French lesson and, above all, display box gawking privileges and bragging rights await the high bidder here.
