Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2018

Technically, these classic "Ice Kings" are low grade, but boy, they're considerably more enjoyable to handle and check out than low grade cards with numerous creases and writing and rips, etc. This group was or still is glued onto scrapbook pages, with the majority however exhibiting only minimal handling and wear. A Howie Morenz card is one of the exceptions though, with light creases, rounded corners and soiling, to go along with back damage which denies a chance to read the write-up. Cards of 60-Bill Beveridge RC and 67-John Ross Roach also have big glue/paper blotches on the reverse but are crease-free, while best are four crease-free (rookie) cards with lighter back damage, with all text legible; 17-Mondou, 18-Raymond, 24-Carson and 45-Brennan. A Tiny Thompson RC has clear glue residue on the back, with a rather heavy side-to-side crease. Meanwhile, six cards have their backs completely covered with scrapbook paper but are without creases and have just light corner/edge wear. They are 2-Bridge RC, 11-Worters RC, 32-Chapman RC, 50-Thoms RC, 63-Gracie RC and 64-H. Kilrea RC. As for a dozen cards still glued to a page, they all picture Montreal Maroons players and include, from left to right starting at the top, Kerr, Wilcox, Northcott, Brydson, Hooley Smith, Robinson, Wentworth, W. Kilrea, Ward, Beveridge (heavily-creased 1937-38 O-Pee-Chee card), Ayers and Duguid. Small blotches of glue are on a few, but quite a cool sheet, contributing to an intriguing pre-war offering.
