Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/6/2018
Scarce and desirable pre-war collectibles here were issued in Great Britain by the Amalgamated Press, with "Triumph" and "Champion" being two boys magazines with which the postcards came during the 1935-36 hockey season. The group displays better than its technical grade, lowered by the fact the postcards were once glued into a scrapbook, with pasted paper now covering the original (postcard) backs. Most of the fronts are crease-free, with rather subtle specs/spots of glue visible, but nothing too unsightly. Exceptions include paper loss on the front of a Lionel Conacher card and a side-to-side crease in one picturing Chicago's Paul Thompson. The latter two are Triumph "entries" and joined by those depicting Ching Johnson, Nick Metz and Baldy Northcott, while Champion representatives are HOFers Charlie Conacher, Aurele Joliat, Bill and Bun Cook and Sweeney Schriner, along with Mush March. Killer images of some of hockey's all-time greatest players await the high bidder.
