Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/19/2018
A trio of bats featuring Montreal Expos players are offered, including game-used examples from both Marquis Grissom and Larry Parrish, along with a commemorative Rusty Staub Cooperstown bat signed by the Montreal legend. The Grissom bat is a 35” Louisville R161 block letter example in solid black finish, with “9” handwritten in silver (faded) over the knob. Residue over the upper handle – possibly pine tar or Mota stick – is present, with a large repaired crack just below the center brand. Nice use is exhibited, with ball and compression marks over the barrel. The Parrish bat is a 35 ½” Louisville A99 signature model from the 1980-83 labeling period, with “15” handwritten over the knob in white. Seeing use with either the Expos or Rangers, a good amount of the finish has worn away over the barrel, especially over the hitting surface, with a small V-shaped crack over the lower handle. Lastly, the Staub bat is a 34” Cooperstown commemorative example with gorgeous decals listing his hit totals, with a “Special Edition” decal just above the handle. Staub has signed between the center brand and barrel decals in gold, and the signature displays especially well against the dark brown finished surface. With just very light handling wear present, the bat remains in gorgeous condition.
