Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2018

A first-place finish in the West Division at the conclusion of the 1968-69 NHL season, the St Louis Blues – led by team scoring leader Red Berenson – would then sweep the Philadelphia Flyers and Los Angeles Kings before meeting the mighty Montreal Canadiens in the Stanley Cup finals. We have a 1968-69 St. Louis Blues West Division champions 18K gold ring that was presented to Red Berenson. A full-colour Blues logo sits atop a darker blue stone on the tableau, with “West Division” in raised letters above, and “Champions” below. Unique in design with a completely textured band, crossed hockey sticks with “1969” sits over the left shank, with a raised NHL shield logo over the right. “Red Berenson” has been engraved in script within the inner band, covering the lower portion of the “18K” stamping. A signed LOA from Red Berenson will accompany.
Wear is present to the blue stone over the tableau, with a few small dings and scratches along edges. The inner band also exhibits some minor surface wear, with a tiny portion of the enamel on the Blues logo chipped away. We should also note that this ring was previously mounted to a charm bracelet with a small eyelet mounted on the back inner band, with this professionally removed by a jeweler. The area affected is noticeable, with a small smooth section over the textured surface.
