Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2018

The desirable rookie cards of four Montreal Canadiens legends highlight this interesting lot, with the (different) color of "CANADIENS" above the well-known images of then-youngsters Ken Dryden and Guy Lafleur intriguing to behold. The Dryden RC has numerous light surface scratches but is well-centered, crease-free and otherwise EX-MT, while the Lafleur is EX-MT with light touches at three corners. A 1973-74 Larry Robinson RC is also appealing, the nicely centered NM example held back only by a bit of chipping on the left edge. Two of the top rookie cards of the 1980s are present, with that of goaltending great Patrick Roy earning a mark of NM-MT 8 from PSA and a Mario Lemieux with similar (raw) NM-MT attributes. Less-than-perfect centering and a slight diamond cut are to mention. Completing the crease-free rookie card parade, an all-O-Pee-Chee affair by the way, is an off-centered Mike Bossy RC, otherwise NM. Swell bonuses to the OPC rookies are a Parkhurst reprint-like card from the 1990s which features a gorgeous Gordie Howe autograph and a '90-91 Score Martin Brodeur RC.
The Howe card, on the reverse, has "PROTOTYPE" at the top right, while an oval sticker/hologram near the bottom edge reads "the Goalie's Den - 18418". Several possibilities with this splendid group of collectibles.
