Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/19/2018
Topps' inaugural hockey card issue is well known for its striking colors, with unfortunately, some added color to report with this lower grade ensemble. Although the key Gordie Howe and Terry Sawchuk cards are not affected, just over half include uneven dark/stained areas on the front, caused by water/moisture damage, resulting in only the upper left corner regions displaying original white backgrounds. Our website photos will give you a better idea. Meanwhile, the Howe is F-G with a side-to-side crease down low and toning on the back edges, while we spot blue touch-up on a corner of the (otherwise G) Sawchuk, similar in both regards to Worsley. The (last) Milt Schmidt card is G+, with the other not-stained cards mostly in the G-G+ range. A few of the cards without unsightly fronts display toning on the back edges, notably Delvecchio and Mohns RC. Definitely cheaper alternatives to high grade examples these will be.
