Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction February 2018

The first player to win the Conn Smythe Trophy while playing for the losing team in the Stanley Cup Finals, netminder Roger Crozier also garnered the prestigious Calder for his impressive play during his inaugural season in 1964-65. We have a late-1960s Detroit Red Wings jersey that’s been attributed to the Bracebridge native. A label from supplier Olympic graces the collar along with a size “48” fly tag, with a "Custom Tailored by The General - Greenville, Ohio" tag inside the reverse hem. Styled with the famous winged-wheel team crest with embroidered detailing that was first made famous by the Montreal AAA, the vintage red garment has been accented with the number “1” over the sleeves and verso in white tackle twill. A garter-style fight strap has also been added, and it should be noted that other goaltenders wore the number 1 with the Wings in the late-1960s.
A couple faint marks are visible beneath the team crest, with a few small stains over the front and reverse lower band. Both cuffs have also come unraveled, with a small hole near the right elbow along with a pair of team repairs beneath the reverse number.
