Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction February 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/27/2018
Mostly Topps hockey card display boxes to tell you about here, with the coolest and most riveting dating back to the 1968-69 season and featuring a killer action shot of Bobby Hull on the box top, front panel and each end. The league’s premier scorer at the time, Hull has the attention of all five New York Ranger opponents! Wrapped in plastic, the brick-size prize displays marvelously at arm’s length, with no real unsightly issues. Joining it are “flatter” (7-1/4” x 8-1/4” x 1”) boxes from ’71-72 and ’72-73, the former quite sharp/vivid and the latter, picturing Bernie Parent and Wayne Cashman, with scuffs and paper/color loss to mention. Also from the 10-cent pack days is a ’73-74 box which originally held 24 packs, while a ’75-76 box, (best condition of all), featured 36 packs which each cost an extra nickel. Also 10-3/4” in length and completing the inviting stash is an O-Pee-Chee box from ’76-77, with a classic scotch tape stain on the box top and front panel. All-in-all, a splendid six-pack.
