Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction February 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/27/2018
Tying a rookie Wayne Gretzky as the 1979-80 NHL scoring leader with each accumulating an astonishing 137 points, Marcel Dionne would also garner the impressive Art Ross Trophy as well as the Lester B. Pearson Award that year. The following season would also witness an astounding performance from the Drummondville native, with Dionne again securing 135 points to finish second only behind The Great One himself. Hailing from the early-1980s, we have a Los Angeles Kings jersey that was worn by the legendary HOFer circa 1980-82. A label from W.A. Goodman & Sons sits over the collar with handwritten “S”, with the jersey listed as a medium in size and measuring-out to roughly a 48. Featuring a gorgeous embossed yellow, purple and white crown team crest with embroidered detailing, the mesh garment with knit accents and lower band has been embellished with oversized dual-colour tackle twill sleeve and verso numbers, with “Dionne” placed directly across the reverse in individual yellow twill letters. An LOA from Classic Auctions will accompany.
Surviving in gorgeous condition with brilliant colours, a few stick marks are visible over the lower front band, with some minor fraying to the reverse numbers. Additional marks are visible over each sleeve, with two large team repairs near the left elbow as well as pilling to the interior behind the team crest, beneath the fight strap and over each upper sleeve near the armpit sections.
