Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction February 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/27/2018
The L.A. Kings won their first Stanley Cup in 2012 and former Kings great Bernie Nicholls was among those who saw their name engraved on the barrel of Lord Stanley’s prized silver chalice. This personal Stanley Cup trophy was presented to Nicholls, who was a Kings consultant in 2011-12. After roaring through the first three rounds of the playoffs with a 12-2 record in series wins over Vancouver, St. Louis and Phoenix, the Kings beat New Jersey in a six-game final. Goalie Jonathan Quick won the Conn Smythe and captain Dustin Brown hoisted the Cup for a Kings squad that boasted the likes of Anze Kopitar, Drew Doughty and Jeff Carter, whose names are engraved on the barrel of this 13” trophy that remains in near-pristine condition. Comes with Bernie Nicholls’ signed LOA.
The “Boffey” manufacturer’s sticker remains affixed to the brown felt bottom under the black wood base.
