Winners of the first Grey Cup in 1909, the Toronto Varsity Blues football team began competing for the Vanier Cup once intercollegiate clubs were no longer able to vie for the Grey Cup. Two Vanier championships have been won by the program since, with their latest coming in 1993. We have a Toronto Varsity Blues 1993 Canadian university football Vanier Cup salesman's sample ring. Size 12 with an approx weight of 32 grams, a red and blue enamel Varsity Blues logo sits raised within the tableau, with zirconias on each side. “National Champions” and “1993” border the face, with “Varsity Blues” above and the score for the championship below over the left shank. The right shank feature’s a raised football helmet with laurel wreath, with “Rushton” above and “Coach” below. "Intergold" is stamped on the inner band, along with an engraved sample number of "SS 11084".
Heavy wear is present on the attractive ring, with numerous small scratches and abrasions, along with some dirt within grooves. There is also heavy oxidation to the surface in spots, with considerable rubbing to the finish, especially along edges.
