Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/19/2018
Still atop the list of the greatest sports upsets in history despite almost four decades passing, the 1980 US hockey victory at the Winter Games in Lake Placid remains highly venerated and collected. We have a wonderful creation celebrating the red, white and blue, with a team-signed puck display along with a team-signed stick. At 23 ½” x 32”, the display features twenty “Miracle on Ice” pucks arranged in five rows of four, with each puck signed by a team member in blue, with a metal plaque along the base listing the particulars. Signatures present include Eruzione, Craig, Morrow, Broten and others. The 45” Louisville youth stick features 20 signatures in mixed inks applied to one side of the stick, with Brooks, Eruzione, Craig, Morrow and others.
The Louisville Slugger stick has also been signed by Verchota, Christoff, Baker, Schneider, Patrick, Ramsey, O'Callahan, Wells, Johnson and others. The pucks have all been signed in blue with most appearing lighter then when first penned. We should also note that the majority of the pucks (17) have residue which appears to be dark in colour, with this residue appearing to have “bubbled-up”. There is also wear and light damage to the frame itself.
