Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/19/2018
A pair of New York Islanders that greatly contributed to the success of the early-1980s juggernaut, both Billy Smith and Bryan Trottier spent considerable time on Long Island, with each honoured for their careers as respected members of the Hockey Hall of Fame. We have a pair of sticks used by the superstars hailing from the mid-1980s, with the Smith example signed. Both Victoriaville models (Pro-Smith/Ultra Glass-Trottier) with the respective player’s name over the upper shaft, each retains its original tape over the blade and knob, with each exhibiting light/moderate use. The Smith stick is heavily cracked along the top side of the paddle just above the heel section, with the 1970-draft choice adding a blue marker signature over the paddle.
As mentioned, both sticks exhibit light to moderate use, with a minor crack along the heel section of the Trottier stick, with “228 17” handwritten in pencil along the lower underside of the shaft.
