Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/6/2018
Three of the most dominant players throughout the 1980s into the 2000s, Peter Forsberg, Paul Coffey and Dale Hawerchuk all carved out impressive HOF careers, with each finishing with over 800 points. Forsberg and Hawerchuk also claimed the Calder Memorial as top rookie, with Coffey’s record of 48 goals in a season for a defenceman never to be broken. We have equipment from each player, with photo-matched gloves worn by both Forsberg in 2005-06 (along with two extras) and Hawerchuk in 1996-97, along with skates issued to Coffey during the early-1990s. The skates have been signed by the legendary defenceman, with COAs for both the skates and Hawerchuk gloves to accompany from longtime Flyers trainer Jim "Turk" Evers.
The breakdown of each of the offered items is as follows: The Hawerchuk gloves are Louisville TPS models in solid black with white accents, with “Hawerchuk” embroidered over each wrist guard. “3” has also been handwritten on each, with light to moderate use exhibited, with wear mostly to the right palm. Getty Image #385838 from 1997 has been matched to the long loose threading beneath the “TPS” emblem on the right glove, and to the added “3” on the left glove. The Forsberg gloves are mis-matched Easton examples in solid black, with “Forsberg” over each. A small patch of stretchable material has been added to each, with numerous Getty Images from 2005-06 showing Forsberg wearing mis-matched gloves. Both palms show heavy wear, with some tearing at the top of the fingers on the right glove, with a small section of material glued over the inner thumb. The right glove is photo-matched to Getty Image #57173926 from March 8th, matched to a number of marks/scratches on the exterior of the glove, while the left glove is photo-matched to Getty Image #115475705 from January 25th 2006, matched to the visible tear at the top of the index finger. Getty Image #115475703 from the same game is showing the remnants of the label on the inside of the right glove. The Coffey skates were issued in the early-1990s, and are the type of model worn by the superstar during the late-1980s/early-1990s while playing for both Los Angeles and Pittsburgh. Sold as “issued” due to the lack of visible game-wear, the Bauer Supreme Custom 92 models feature Super Steel blades and holders, with Paul signing each skate on the outer section in thin silver marker, with just some light rubbing to each signature.
