This is the 2009 Winter Classic jersey Detroit forward Jiri Hudler was wearing when he scored two goals during the second period of the Red Wings’ 6-4 win over the Chicago Blackhawks at Wrigley Field. Hudler, who also had an assist on Brian Rafalski’s power-play goal in the third, wore this awesome retro-style gamer exclusively during the second period of the outdoor game, scoring twice from essentially the same spot, the right edge of the crease, at 1:14 and at 12:43. Game wear includes reddish-brown stains on the front, mostly between the tie-neck collar and the old English “D” crest, which has a stain on the upper right, with more on the front tail and low on the left sleeve.
“2” is heat-screened in red vinyl in the back of the neck above the size 52 flag tag. MeiGray NHL Game-Worn Jersey 2008-2009 Season patch with registry number F04871 is sewn inside the rear tail. According to the MeiGray population report the jersey is a “White Retro Winter Classic 1/1/2009 – Worn During Period 2 – NHL-MGG Set.”
