Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction February 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/27/2018
The golden age of North American sports in the 1940s and ‘50s is featured in this huge hoard of more than 175 sports publications from that era. There are more than 100 issues of Sport Magazine from the late-1940s to mid-1950s, the peak of the great Yankees-Giants-Dodgers championship years before the two National League teams abandoned New York to set up shop in California. There are 27 vintage mid-1950s issues of Sports Illustrated, 13 late-1940s to early-1950s issues of Sport Life, and 32 miscellaneous late-1940s to mid-1950s sports publications. Hours and hours and hours of fascinating reading and picture gazing awaits the lucky winning bidder of this lot filled with tales and images of sports history, including the height of the NHL’s Original Six era. The magazines exhibit handling and appear to be complete issues, some with wear and damage to the spines and covers, some of which are loose. The magazines were stored in a basement and have the "old paper" smell.
