Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction February 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/27/2018
The fabled Elysium Arena in Cleveland was witness to many early American hockey tilts, with the AHL’s Cleveland Falcons calling the venue home during both 1936 and 1937. First opening their doors in 1907, the facility housed 2000 spectators, and was demolished by the city in 1951. We have an exceedingly rare program for a NOHA contest between Cleveland and Detroit clubs early in 1911. At 8” x 10 ½” (folded), the single-page fold-over program features wonderful period graphics in green on the cover, with both club’s line-ups listed on the cover’s reverse along with the rules of the NOHA listed on the opposing page. Despite considerable folding and creasing along with toning, the antique program displays well. Early hockey programs featuring American teams and leagues are extremely difficult to locate, especially examples representing the infancy of both Detroit and Cleveland hockey.
