Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction February 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/27/2018
Celebrating the twilight of The Great One’s historic career while with the New York Rangers, we have a wonderful group of signed Wayne Gretzky items all representing his final three NHL seasons that were spent on Broadway. Included, we have a signed Easton Silver Tip stick, a pair of signed Hespeler gloves, a gorgeous signed Rangers “Gretzky” jersey and a signed 11” x 14” photo of Wayne at the close of his final NHL game at Maple Leaf Gardens, on December 19th 1998. An LOA from JSA will accompany the jersey, while a COA for the gloves from WGA is also included.
The stick is the type Wayne used with the Rangers, while the inserted blade is the type he used with the Kings. “Gretzky” factory graphics are present, with a gripper over the handle, with Wayne adding a flawless black marker across the blade including “Best Wishes”. Codes have also been written by our consignor over the butt end for display purposes. The jersey was made by Starter with a “Gretzky” label along the collar along with a size “52” tag, with tackle twill drop-shadow numbers and letters. Wayne has signed the first reverse “9”, and the signature has bled considerably into the background material. The gloves are the identical model Wayne last wore for the Rangers with “99” screened-on, with Wayne adding a large silver paint pen signature over the wrist guard on the left glove, with the date added of his last Rangers game, “4 18 99”. Lastly, the 11” x 14” photo pictures the legend at center ice, with the particulars listed along the base. Wayne has signed to the left of his image in blue sharpie, and the signature is flawless, with light wear to the photo itself.
