There is a light smudge on the right side of the last name of Howe’s autograph. Handwritten on the rubberized logo on the reverse is a “3-26-61” annotation. Howe scored the first goal in the Red Wings’ 2-0 win against Toronto at the in Game 3 of their semi-final at the Olympia on March 26, 1961 to take a 2-1 series lead on their way to a five-game win to advance to the Stanley Cup final against Chicago.
A small piece of cardboard with the handwritten notation, “Caught by P.B., shot by G. Howe, Semi-final playoffs, Olympia Stadium, Detroit 2 Toronto 0, 3/26/61" is taped to the front of the red plastic base of the puck display case.
