Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction February 2018

Indeed classic collectibles are Bee Hive photos, with this group exhibiting signs of having been indeed handled and enjoyed. Some mid, but mostly lower grade examples, with creasing and corner/edge wear to the red, blue and cream-colored backings, along with, at times, other flaws and bends/creases spotted intermittently in the pictures themselves. Not a bad lineup though, highlighted by the foremost star of the 1920s and '30s, the great Howie Morenz. Acceptable is the ensemble, with a big circle pencilled to the reverse and a dab of blue ink on the (creased) photo. In nicer shape are two trophies (with previous winners on the back of the photos); the Stanley Cup and Calder. The team breakdown is as follows, with those more notable/valuable mentioned: Bruins (6), Black Hawks (8)(Brydson, LoPresti), Red Wings (9)(Jennings), Canadiens (11)(Bourque, Buswell, K. Reardon, Young), Rangers (12)(Jim Henry vertical), Maple Leafs (10). A rough Wes McKnight picture, with fountain pen ink on his face, and two low grade Crown Brand photos with trimmed backings, (Babe Siebert, Pete Kelly), complete the decades-old stash, perfect for those not requiring high grade material.
