Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction February 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/27/2018
A memorable season for both their first-place NHL regular season finish along with the benefit game that would be played for Ace Bailey, the Toronto Maple Leafs would go 26-13-9 during the 1933-34 campaign, with a number of notable HOfers in the line-up including Bailey, Clancy, Hainsworth, Jackson, Primeau, Conacher, Horner and captain Hap Day. We have a framed team picture of the 1933-34 NHL champion Leafs, along with a modern team-signed Leafs alumni stick and a Nevin Markwart game-used stick team-signed by the Boston Bruins. The approx. 8” x 15” team picture features a sepia-toned image of the full team and coaching staff, with facsimile signatures of each player along the base. Set in a vintage frame at full dimensions of 10” x 16 ¾”, with some edge tears, creasing and toning to the photo, along with moderate wear to the frame. The Leafs alumni stick is a Titan model in Leafs colours with “Toronto Maple Leafs” across both sides of the shaft. Approx 26 have signed across the blade and shaft on one side in Leafs blue including HOFers Mahovlich, Bathgate, Duff, Stanley, Bower, Pilote and Frank Mahovlich, along with Smith, Harris, Ellis, Nevin and others. The majority of the signatures display well, with just light wear to the stick itself. The circa 1990-92 Markwart Bruins stick is a Sher-Wood Feather-Balanced PMP 7000 model with “Markwart” and “17” on the upper shaft along with handwritten “8”, with the original tape intact over the handle and blade. Approx 18 have signed tape that has been placed over the front side of the shaft, with some minor fading to the signatures, while the stick itself shows nice use, with wear to both the shaft and underside of the blade. Signers include Andy Moog, Cam Neely, Chris Nilan, Bobby Carpenter, Allen Pedersen, John Byce and others.
