Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction February 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/27/2018
A nice selection of examples from a few highly collected vintage sets and issues, we have Truimph and Champion postcards (3) with an original sleeve/envelope, Diamond Match Hockey Matchbooks (14), Blueline Magazine Premiums (4) and a complete set of Pepsi Caps (140) with display board. The 1936 Champion postcards include March and Conacher along with an envelope, with Worters representing the Truimph offering. All three postcards have low technical grades, with the Worters water stained and the March heavily creased, with both the March and Conacher exhibiting paper loss with residue on each reserve from former scrapbook mounting. The envelope also shows heavier wear, with both sides detached but held together with tape, with the “This Wallet Belongs To” section filled out in pen. The 1933-35 Diamond Matchbooks are from the Silver series, with each just the outer shell, with most in expected condition usually encountered with the issue exhibiting moderate wear, with a pair having glue residue on the reverse from former scrapbook placement along with most having a number handwritten on each reverse. Included are Keeling, Himes, Heller, Brennan, Dillon, Ripley, Lamb, Klein, Gross, McVeigh, Somers, Murdoch, Chapman and Red Jackson. The Blueline magazine pictures (8 ¾” x 12”) total 4, with examples present for Beliveau, Plante, Lumley and Ted Lindsay, with light wear to the Lumley and Lindsay examples including a few small corner creases, with an ink notation on the reverse of the Lumley. The Plante and Beliveau are both in lower grade with water damage along with some paper loss. Lastly, the 1980-81 Pepsi Caps set all appear to be in beautiful condition with just light wear, with the 26” display also exhibiting light wear, in much better condition than usually found, with the cardboard backing firmly affixed with just a few small spots of residue present.
