Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction February 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/27/2018
An eclectic grouping that will appeal to both tobacco and premium collectors alike, we have a beautiful set of 12 1933-34 CCM Brown Border hockey team pictures, along with a set of 48 1930 British American Tobacco football (soccer) cards that were produced for the Asian market. We also have two decks of vintage playing cards, including one issued for British Consols cigarettes, the other, Black Horse Ale and Porter, with the playing cards stored in a Daily Mail cigarette tin that advertises the Royal Tour in 1939. The CCM pictures are 8 7/8" x 11 1/4" and printed on semi-glossy paper stock, with the group highlighted by a team picture of the All-Stars "Stars" in the Ace Bailey Benefit Game. Collection also includes team snapshots of the Canadiens, Bruins, Maple Leafs, Red Wings, Black Hawks, Maroons, Rangers & Americans. Aside from minor corner and edge wear and small light surface wrinkles, all pictures are in excellent condition, better than usually encountered with this issue. The original set envelope, although in fair condition, is also included. The BAT football cards total 48, with the majority just showing very light wear, with the set housed in plastic sleeves within a duo-tang. Both playing card decks are complete at 52, with a joker included within the British Consol deck (53 total). Heavy wear is present to both the cards and their original sleeves, with both boxes in poor condition. Lastly, the Daily Mail tin is roughly 6” x 4 ¼” x ¾” and it exhibits minor wear, with a fairly clean cover image of King George and Queen Elizabeth, with a few blemishes present.
