Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/7/2017
Montreal Canadiens’ legend Aurele Joliat is pictured here on a card issued the season after the left winger had teamed with linemate Howie Morenz to help the Habs to a Stanley Cup championship. We cannot spot any creases in the scarce and desirable little relic, with corner and edge wear rendering it in the VG+ to VG-EX range. Part of a 30-card set, it originally came in a product from Montreal’s Maple Crispette company and joins Morenz and Georges Vezina cards as the issue’s most important/valuable. The reverse includes not statistics but an offer for a free pair of skates in exchange for a complete set. Joliat’s stats were highly impressive in 1924-25, the dynamo scoring a career-high 30 goals in just 25 games.
