Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/7/2017
Classic collectibles here include all 108 cards from 1965-66 that Coke drinkers could obtain by sending in cork liners from Coca-Cola bottle caps, obtaining a team set for ten liners featuring the same team nickname. They’re placed in an album, another item that was available by mail. The ensemble has a few condition issues, with the album split a couple of inches at the base of the spine and a dozen or so of the cards stained by tape that was added when putting them into their respective “slots”. Phil Esposito and Henri Richard cards are most notable, while the Canadiens and Red Wings “spreads” have become detached from the staples. The Maple Leafs team set, loaded with Hall of Famers, displays the best of the six teams. Meanwhile, four “How to Play” 32-page instructional booklets from the following (’66-67) season are accompanied by their respective mailing envelopes, revealing that they were sent in March of 1967 to a Coke drinker in Vancouver. The Dave Keon booklet is near mint, with minor handling/wear to mention in regards to the Johnny Bower and Henri Richard examples. We spot two tiny edge tears in the cover of the Jacques Laperriere booklet. A lot of Coke went down in the 1960s!
