Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/7/2017
One of the most fabled hockey clubs despite a very short existence in the NHL in the early-1920s, the Hamilton Tigers boasted both a “professional” or “senior” squad, along with an amateur team that competed in the OHA. We have a wrist watch that was presented to team coach George Redding by the city of Hamilton for the Tigers status as Allan Cup champions. A Gruen Veri-Thin model with square face and black leather Kreisler wrist band, the reverse has been engraved “Presented by City of Hamilton to George Redding Coach Member Tiger Hockey Club 1945-46”. The dial is fairly dirty within the case, with the second hand currently ticking, but we’re unsure if the watch keeps accurate time. There is additional light wear to the band, with this example possibly a later replacement.
