Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/7/2017
Currently a scout for the Carolina Hurricanes, Sergei Samsonov is the only player in history to win the rookie of the year award for the IHL and the NHL in back-to-back seasons. We have a collection of items used by the Russian star, including gloves, skates, pants and a stick blade, with the lot also containing a Providence Bruins equipment bag (not used by Samsonov). The signed gloves are Easton models in black and white hailing from the 1990s, with moderate use exhibited with wear to the palms along with some rubbing to the leather in spots. Samsonov has added a silver marker signature over each, with just very minor smudging. The pants are also Easton models with affixed Bruins and NHL shield logo over the right pant leg, with very heavy use including considerable wear to the material along with numerous rips. Next, the skates are Graf models in solid black currently void of lacing, with heavy use obvious, with a ton of wear to the material including heavy rubbing to the leather along with numerous cuts and slashes to the toe sections. The blade holders also show considerable use, with a ton of cuts, gouges and puck marks. Each skate has been signed in silver along the outer sides, with the ink blending into the background material somewhat. The stick blade is from Easton, with “Samsonov” appearing on the stem, with Sergei’s tape job still in place. Good use is exhibited on the blade, with Samsonov adding another silver marker signature across the front side, and it displays well. Finally, the Providence Bruins equipment bag is solid black with screened-on logos, with some moderate rusting to the currently non-working zipper. Despite displaying thorough use, the bag still remains in good condition.
