Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/7/2017
On top of the hockey world as the current Stanley Cup champions - their second consecutive victory and third in nine years, the Pittsburgh Penguins have an excellent chance at making a three-peat with the likes of a Mr. Sidney Crosby in the lineup. We have a great grouping of game-worn Pens items, including 3 different practice jerseys (one has been signed by Alexander Kovalev), pants from 1992, gloves worn and signed by Paul Stanton and 2 helmets, one worn by Billy Tibbetts, the other worn and signed by Jordan Staal (worn in 2006-07 and 2007-08). The practice jerseys are all in solid black with labeling present including an example from the 1980s, with each featuring an affixed Pens team crest, with each exhibiting nice wear including an example signed by Alex Kovalev over the team crest in black marker. The helmets both have Penguins decals affixed to each side, with the interior padding and strapping intact. Both also sport NHL shield decals along the reverse, with the numbers “11” (Staal) and “12” (Tibbetts) affixed. Heavy wear is exhibited on each, with numerous scratches, marks and abrasions, with Staal signing the top of his helmet in black marker, with some areas slightly “rubbed away”. Next, the pants are Tackla models with accents in Pens colours, along with an affixed NHL shield crest. Heavy use is exhibited, with a ton of wear along with some tearing to the interior material. A signature is also present on the pants. Lastly, the gloves are Ferland models in black and white, with Stanton’s “22” handwritten in each. Heavy use is exhibited which includes rips to the palm of the left glove, with Stanton signing each over the wrist protector, and the signatures display well. An LOA will accompany the Tibbetts helmet, along with a COA for the Staal helmet.
