Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/7/2017
This photo-matched Pittsburgh Penguins Set 3 away jersey was worn by Ryan Malone and originates from his best career goals-and-points season in 2007-08, where he netted 27 markers along with 24 assists for an impressive 51 points. Size tagging is affixed to the collar, with embroidered NHL and Reebok crests on the front and back necklines respectively. Styled with the Pens team crest that saw use from 2002-2016, the solid white V-neck has been accented with textured tackle twill sleeve and verso numbers, with the Pittsburgh 250th anniversary crest over the right sleeve. The team patch sits on the inside hem, just below the Dana Heinz (equipment manager) signed fight strap.
Game-wear is considerable on the desirable sweater, with a number of marks over the lower front, along with a slit/hole just above the left cuff. There are also team repairs, with 5 examples over the right sleeve along with an additional 4 repairs near the left elbow. We should note that the alternate’s “A” has also been removed, with the jersey photo-matched both with and without the “A”. Getty Image #8015591 from March 4th 2008 has been matched to 3 of the 5 team repairs on the right elbow (without the alternate captain's "A"), while Getty Image #80365388 from March 24th has been matched to 2 of the 3 team repairs on the left arm below the number 12 (with the alternate captain's "A" which is now removed).
