Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/7/2017
A formidable collection achievable with just a single bid, we have an especially noteworthy group of antique one-piece hockey sticks totaling 7, with examples furnished from some of the most desirable makers including St. Mary's, Lovell, Northland (2), CCM, Hedlund and Wright & Ditson. Each stick originates from the 1920s, with a few examples possibly from the early-1930s, with the earliest a St. Mary’s “Boys Practice” model from the teens. Each stick features an intact paper label (with varying degrees of loss) and remains uncracked, with the majority featuring clean blades with no unsightly tape or tape residue, making the collection absolutely ideal for display.
The breakdown for the wonderful antique sticks offered in this lot is as follows; St. Mary’s – A Boys Practice model, 85% of the label is intact, with light use to the stick. CCM – A youth model, the label is well worn/faded and is 80% intact, with some chipping to the lower shaft and blade. Wright & Ditson – An H3 Crackshot model, 85% of the label is present, with “C.O.D.” handwritten along the shaft in dark ink. Northland – No model is listed with 70% of the label intact, with heavy water staining to both the stick and label, but it remains completely solid. Hedlund – 60% of the label is present, with tape added to two spots along the blade. Northland – A Crackshot model most likely from the early-1930s, the stick appears unused, with an intact striping sticker along with 85% of the label present. Lovell – A Boy’s Expert model, the stick appears unused, with 99% of the label intact, with some minor staining to the stick.
