Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/7/2017
Chances at uncut sheets featuring Wayne Gretzky’s famous O-Pee-Chee rookie card come along rather infrequently, with the one here accompanied by the two others which comprise a complete 1979-80 set and all including condition issues. Multiple horizontal creases hamper Wayne’s RC, with a 2-1/2” by about 6” section missing along the sheet’s bottom edge. The sheet offers looks at all of the team cards, some “leader” cards, the team logos of NHL newcomers Edmonton, Winnipeg and Hartford, icons Gordie Howe and Bobby Hull (crease-free) in the twilight of their careers, along with other Hall of Famers. Wayne, by the way, shows up in the second row from the top, eighth card from the left. Meanwhile, the other sheets also have numerous creases, with one missing small sections in the middle of the left edge and the other torn 6” in the middle of the top edge. Numerous possibilities await the high bidder, including having Wayne on the wall!
