Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2017

This Wayne Gretzky 1995-96 L.A. Kings game-used stick comes with a cool provenance story. According to the LOA that accompanies the Easton Aluminum 5100 stick, it was used by the Great One in his final season with the Kings during a game at the Ottawa Civic Centre on October 26, 1995. Wayne gave the stick to the Ottawa 67’s equipment manager, who assisted the Kings’ staff while they were in town to play the Senators. It has the original foam knob with the “RS96 OTT” notation handwritten in black marker on the butt end. Wayne’s tape job remains on the “Gretzky”-stamped wood blade insert, which has a small crack at the toe.
According to the LOA, the small crack on the toe is the result of Gretzky tossing the stick when he was ejected at the end of the game.
