Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/21/2017
The fifth and final installment of the noteworthy international venue, the 1991 Canada Cup witnessed the Canadians taking on a strong American contingent in a best-of-three final, with the host nation winning the first two games to retain their title, winning four of the five times the tournament took place. We have a stick team-signed by Team Canada from the event, with individuals present that didn’t make the final roster, divulging its training camp origin that preceded the event. A KOHO model with the identifiers mostly removed, over 40 have signed both sides of the shaft and the front side of the blade in thick marker, including Gretzky, Coffey, Lindros, Hawerchuk, Robitaille, Stevens, Belfour and others.
“Canada Cup 1991 Team Canada” appears handwritten along the blade, with most of the signatures presenting well, with a few exhibiting smudging and loss. The stick itself remains in wonderful condition. Others who have signed along with the aforementioned individuals include Theo Fleury, Mark Tinordi and Bill Ranford. Those who have signed but never made the final squad include Rob Blake, Kirk Muller and Brian Skrudland.
