Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/21/2017
Wayne Gretzky, the young man from Brantford, Ontario, described on the back of his 1979-80 O-Pee-Chee rookie card as the best prospect to turn pro since Guy Lafleur, sure lived up to all the advance billing! What a treat it was to have witnessed the most prolific scoring accomplishments of all-time and what a treat it will be for you to secure this high grade example of The Great One’s first official cardboard appearance. Oh, weren’t the 1980s fun in Edmonton as Wayne and company became hockey’s most electrifying team.
Slabbed NMM 8 by KSA, this example of card number 18 features bright vivid colors and smooth edges, with a white spec at the lower right corner and a similar one on the bottom edge the only apparent flaws. Less-than-perfect centering and a scratch on both the front and the back of the KSA holder are also to mention.
