Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/21/2017
An intriguing stash of York Peanut Butter octagon-shaped cards is up for grabs here and we'll start with the 1967-68 examples since they come around far less often than the other two issues. Featuring action shots from the previous season's Stanley Cup Finals between the Maple Leafs and Canadiens, most in the group of 28 have some type of condition issue, with a crease or creases, staining (either totally toned or with uneven staining), edge/corner wear and the odd pen mark among the flaws rendering the vast majority either VG or lower. The (26) "white backs" from '63-64 are similar, with a few featuring scotch tape stains, (Horton, Beliveau) and a crease-free VG-EX Sawchuk the highlight. Handling and wear is also observed on the (20) "yellow backs" from '61-62, with a couple with back damage, a couple with tape stains and most others with scuffs or flaws rendering them VG or lower. A decent VG-EX Beliveau is a notable exception. Classic collectibles will be a cheaper alternative to high grade cards.
