Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/21/2017
Hockey’s most storied franchise, the Montreal Canadiens continue to be one of the most beloved and collected clubs in existence… just don’t tell that to Toronto Maple Leafs supporters. We have a neat group of 4 display pieces that all feature the Habs, along with a Guy Lapointe game-issued stick that has been signed by 13. First we have a framed limited-edition “Montreal’s All Century Team” lithograph, and it’s been signed by 6 with deceased HOFers Lach and Moore, along with Beliveau, Cournoyer, Lafleur and Henri Richard. At full dimensions of 12 ¼” x 22 ¼” and numbered “778/2000”, the litho and signatures display well, with a Habs pin inserted along the bottom center. Next, we have a print entitled “The Final Seconds” that features action between Montreal and Chicago, with Henri Richard and Stan Mikita signing in pencil beneath their respective image, with the artist signing along the bottom right. Numbered 765/1960, a name plaque has been inserted, framed (no glass) to full dimensions of 22 ½” x 39 ¼”. The third display is an original painting of Saku Koivu, with the artist signing along with an imitation signature for Koivu. A well-executed likeness, the painting has been framed to total dimensions of 25” x 37”. The last display features a pair of full colour postcards featuring Frank Selke winners Guy Carbonneau and Bob Gainey, with each signing in ballpoint. Set in a 12 ½” x 22” shadow-box style frame, the signatures, postcards and frame all remain in wonderful condition. Finally, the Guy Lapointe stick is a Victoriaville model with “Lapointe” and “5” stamped-on, with approx. 13 signatures on the shaft in a few mixed red and blue inks, with Rejean Houle, Larry Robinson, Serge Savard, Guy Lapointe and others. The stick was issued and never used, and it remains in excellent condition, with a few of the signatures light.
