Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/21/2017
Three interesting vintage relics representing the Montreal Canadiens are offered, with a display featuring a pair of early souvenir Habs spoons from the pre-NHL days of the NHA, followed by a framed Canadiens team picture from 1938-39. We also have a second display featuring photos from the 1950 addition to the Montreal Forum along with a medallion from the 1968 re-opening ceremony. The NHA spoons are different in design, with each featuring a matching and early Habs “C” logo, with each showing wear from prior use. Set in a 10 ¼” x 10 ¼” frame, a plaque has been centralized listing the details. The Forum renovations display is 16” x 20” and basic in design (the top glass is detached), with 8 3 ½” x 5” black and white photos of renovations mounted beneath a plaque listing the particulars and a 3” medallion from the 1968 re-opening. The medallion is mounted by what appears to be clear caulking, with an additional 16 loose photos accompanying. Lastly, the 1938-39 Canadiens team picture is just under 13” x 16” (exposed), set in a 19 ½” x 23 ½” frame. Heavy wear is present, with staining along with creasing and a few surface wrinkles, with some light damage on the right hand side.
