Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/21/2017
Extremely rare and the first red leather-bound set we’ve ever encountered, "The Trail of the Stanley Cup" is a definite prerequisite to any important hockey library. Author Charles Coleman's three-volume history of hockey and Lord Stanley's trophy from 1893 to 1967 is contained within these three books. All three volumes offered here are leather-bound, with the first 2 volumes limited to 1000 copies, the third book, 1500. The interiors of all three nicely preserved volumes remain clean, with just very light handling wear present. Each is also accompanied by their original red slip case, with two containing images of the Stanley Cup. According to our consignor, these were given to top officials/VIP's who helped get this project off the ground.
While each volume remains clean with very little wear to the gilted spines, the volume 3 slipcase has a separation along 2 seams.
