Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/21/2017
A rare occasion when the sacred “CH” wasn’t utilized, with the club opting for their “globe” teams crests that announced to the hockey world that they were currently its king, the 1924-25 Montreal Canadiens were current Stanley Cup holders, with the victory the second in a long line of triumphant championships. We have an extremely scarce image of the famous squad, posed outside of what appears to be the Westmount Arena. At 9” x 13” (exposed) and with Léo Dandurand at the helm, the full team is pictured in their boastful sweaters, including iconic HOF legends Georges Vezina, Aurel Joliat, Howie Morenz and Sprague Cleghorn. Matted and set in an attractive frame to full dimensions of 15 ¾” x 20 ¼”, the image displays beautifully, with some light horizontal creasing along the middle section that does little to detract from the important image.
