Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/21/2017
Featuring Mr Hockey himself, we have a nice collection of four items that represent Gordie Howe and the Detroit Red Wings. We have a pair of attractive Howe signed display plates, along with an early-1960s team-signed Red Wings puck and a brick from the Detroit Olympia, also signed by Howe. The brick has been wrapped in plastic (could be easily removed if desired), with an article about Howe along with a photo of the Olympia being demolished inserted. Howe has signed along an edge in silver, and the signature displays well, with some loss to the brick on the right hand side. Next, the early-1960s signed puck features a fairly clean logo on one side, along with the reverse taped for signatures. Most have faded considerably, with a signature that appears to be Sawchuk along the bottom edge. We should also note that the middle strand of tape is loose. Next, we have limited-edition (392/2358) Gartlan Howe plate from 1992 (10”), and it features a number of attractive images of Howe, with Gordie signing in gold, with the “H” smudged. The second Howe plate is a Heritage example from 1994, set in a small frame. Entitled “Mr. Hockey Gordie Howe”, the plate has been signed by the legend in black marker adding his number, and the signature is choice. With some wear to the frame, the dish appears to survive in beautiful condition.
