Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/21/2017
The Spalding official NHL game puck was used league wide from the Great Depression through the outset of World War II. Offered are a pair of 1930s Spalding NHL game pucks, each with the distinctive small round A.G. Spalding & Brothers baseball logo on either side. Imagine, these pucks are the same as the ones played from 1931-42 by Eddie Shore, Howie Morenz and the Maple Leafs’ famous Kid Line of Conacher, Primeau and Jackson, and gloved by the likes of HOF goalies Gardiner, Hainsworth, Thompson and Broda. One puck has its original sharp edges and is nicely preserved overall, with chips on opposite sides of one edge. The second Spalding puck has beveled edges and handwritten notations on one face.
“My Good Friend Verne Williams, Best of luck, Eddie (illegible) Dartmouth (illegible year)” reads the white-colored writing on one side of the Spalding puck with beveled edges.
