Remembered for his participation against the Americans in the “Miracle on Ice” game in 1980, goaltender Vladimir Myshkin would win his first of 5 World and European championships shortly after in 1981, followed by 1982, 1983, 1986, and 1990. We have 6 medals from the Russian star’s personal collection, including his 1981 European Championships gold medal, 1974-75 World Junior Hockey Tournament - Winnipeg Canada medal, a 3-Star award medal from the 1978 Birmingham Bulls presented by Ken Hilton and 3 misc medals. Lastly, we also have a 1977 medal with grey ribbon not from Myshkin's collection. 1) 1981 European Championship gold medal. At 2 ¾” in diameter, the original ribbon remains intact with “1981” above, with game action featured along the front with “European Championships”. The reverse pictures a globe with crossed hockey sticks, with “International Ice Hockey Federation” encompassing. Wear is present on both the front and reverse, with a few chips along with some surface loss in spots. 2) 1974-75 World Junior Hockey Tournament medal. The second installment of the World Juniors, Russia went undefeated in the tournament. At 2” in diameter, the medal features a number of athletes with “1874-1974”, with text on the reverse reading “World Junior Hockey Tourn. Winnipeg Canada 1974-75”. The ribbon is intact and shows wear, with some additional wear to edges along the medal. 3) 3-Star award medal from the 1978 Birmingham Bulls presented by Ken Hilton. A generic hockey player is pictured, with the text on the reverse stating “3-Star Award B’ham Bulls 1978 Presented by Ken Hilton”. The ribbon and medal both show light wear. 4) CCCP medal. The hammer and sickle are pictured along the front, with “CCCP” above. With the original ribbon intact, Russian text runs along the perimeter of the reverse. With little wear, the ribbon and medal remain in excellent condition. 5&6) A pair of matched 2 ½” examples with intact ribbons, “1990” appears along with “XVI”. Both show wear and remain in very good condition. 7) “CSSR” medal. At just 2” in diameter, “CSSR” along with “1977” appear on front, with an image of an athlete along with “CKAA” on the reverse. The medal shows wear, with some wear and staining to the ribbon.
