Only the second occasion in Olympic history featuring the NHL’s best representing their home countries, the 2002 Winter Games were held in the US, with the host nation losing the gold medal game to the Canadians in both the men’s and women’s pools. This Team Russia jersey was worn by Sergei Fedorov in the tournament. Nike size tagging along with an IIHF label are affixed to the collar, with embroidered Nike swoosh logos on the back neckline and over the right breast. Featuring a Russian Federation twill team crest with “Russia” below in Cyrillic, the solid white v-neck has been accented with double-twill numbers on the sleeves and verso. A partially embroidered IIHF crest resides on the back bottom, while the Nike inventory bar code that appears on examples from this same set is absent. Game-wear includes just a few stick marks present including near the right breast, along with a second example on the upper left sleeve near the numbers. This garment was most likely worn in the Feb 18th contest against Finland, as the matching Bure example from this same NHLPA set that also appears in this auction has been photo-matched to that particular game. An LOA from the NHLPA will accompany.
