Brett Hull tied his father and fellow HOFer Bobby Hull for career NHL hat tricks with his 28th on October 9, 1997. The Golden Brett used this Easton Z Bubble two-piece gamer with a Christian wood blade insert to tie the Golden Jet with the game-winning goal in overtime to account for all three St. Louis Blues tallies in a 3-2 win over the L.A. Kings, goals Nos. 530, 531 and 532 of his career. “Hat Trick #28 Ties Dad” appears in the black marker handwritten notation on a vintage piece of white hockey tape affixed to the lower back of the composite shaft. Game wear shows in red paint transfer on Brett’s white tape job on the knob. Comes with Brett Hull's signed LOA.
The vintage piece of hockey tape dated “Oct 9/97” has what appears to be “28-10” beside it on the top edge. “Blues 3 LA 2 GW OT Hat Trick #28 Ties Dad” reads the portion of the tape displayed on the back edge of the shaft. There is a faint “Hull” stamp on the blade insert, which retains Brett’s original tape job.
