Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/6/2018
Formed entirely of Icelandic players in 1912, the Winnipeg Falcons rose to prominence throughout the decade, culminating in both an Allan Cup victory in 1920 along with being crowned the first Olympic Games gold medal hockey winners. We have a rare postcard featuring the historic club from 1919-20. At 3 ½” x 5” and slightly smaller than the average postcard size for the era, all six starting player’s are featured with cartoon bodies riding an eagle “To Victory”, including HOFer Frank Fredrickson along with fellow Winnipegger’s Slim Halderson, Connie Johanneson, Wally Byron, Mike Goodman and Bobby Benson. With a divided postal reverse, the desirable antique postcard remains in gorgeous condition, exhibiting just very light wear.
